My hosting company has a build it yourself website service, so why should I hire SNB Consulting Services?

There are a lot of automatic web building sites out there. Just choose your colours and plug in your information and away you go. Simple... or is it?

Just having a website just doesn't cut it anymore. Everyone and their dog has one - and I mean this literally, some of the pet websites out there are incredible. So how do you get noticed? How do you compete? That's where hiring a professional comes in, having someone guide you through the research, content creation, navigation and optimize for Google and the other search engines, is an invaluable resource.

Your competition is only two clicks away.

Even if you get hundreds of visitors a day, are they buying? You have less than 8 seconds to engage a potential customer when they arrive at your site. If they can't find what they're looking for, they'll hit the back button and choose the next website on the list. Your competition quite literally is two clicks away.

What's the point of Twitter? LinkedIn? They sound ridiculous.

For personal use, I tend to agree. But for small business Twitter and other social media platforms are invaluable. They give you a chance to interact with potential clients without leaving your desk. Social media is all about sharing information and community building. Think of it as a huge, ongoing networking event.

What's all this hype about Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

It used to be about keywords. But like everything else, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has grown more complicated, partly because there are so many websites out there and partly because there are a lot of spammers who bend the rules to get their pages listed, thus visited, before legitimate sites.

When building your website, Search Engine Optimization should be incorporated into every stage of development. How you organize, update and phrase your content plays a vital role in how the search engines rate your website and place you on their lists.

Using social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and bogs can have a positive impact on how your website is rated.

Caution - Search Engines are very strict in their SEO requirements. There are many tricks and methods that used to be acceptable, but currently will result in having your website banned from their rankings. SNB Consulting Services strictly adheres to the Google Webmaster Guidelines to ensure your website has maximum visibility without risk.

No one can claim to have a special relationship with the search engines to ensure your website will make it to the top. Search engines are effective because they are impartial and produce the best results based on the search parameters requested by the user. Giving preferential rankings would be counterproductive. Having said that, most search engines provide a paid advertising service, to help boost your visibility. this is an additional option to explore.

How do we do this? What do you need from me?

When we set out to create your website, we will meet to discuss your goals for the website, how you'd like it to look, your customers, your competition and your products/services. Since no one knows your business better than you, it will be up to you to write your content but SNB Consulting Services won't leave you stranded. We will give you a questionaire to help arrange your content as you write it and eliminate the 'where do I start' and 'oh gosh, did I forget anything?' panic.

While you work on your content, we'll be designing your website based on our discussion. At least three layouts will be presented for approval.

Once we have the layout, we'll create the navigation component for your site. This will coordinate with your content to allow visitors to easily find the information they're looking for to increase their chance of converting to customers. Everying is designed with SEO in mind.

At the same time we'll discuss and decide which social media platforms realistically fit with your business and develop a strategy that dovetails with your current marketing plan.

Once we upload your content to your website, the draft will be sent to you to make changes and finally approve. Your website will be made public and you'll be online and open for business. Most websites can be online within a month from our first meeting depending on how much content needs to be written.

Do I have to sign a contract?
